Questions, Theories and Apple Pie

As predicted by many, the conspiracy theories are beginning to bloom in regard to the death of Usama bin Laden.  However, a few questions that have been asked in the past 24 hours seem to have a point of legitimacy. 

For instance, reports of the timeline of the covert operation continue to change – reports coming from the White House, itself.  Why?  What’s the big deal about telling us the actual timing?  If it compromises security, diplomacy or other operations then shouldn’t the WH have simply stayed mute?  The confusion that  such misinformation creates undermines the accuracy of any further information.  Of course…that may be the plan.

And then, there is the question of how DNA testing could have been done so quickly?  Was comparative DNA available in Afghanistan?  Odd, yes.  But, one could surmise that every detail was covered, including having a way to identify UBL.

Finally, there is the yo-yo decision of releasing photos.  To do or not to do…that is the question?  With the incredible attention to detail throughout this surgical strike, you would think that the Administration would have thought about the aftermath and had a plan.  Of course, they have a plan, it’s just that indecision may be part of the plan…it adds a sense of thoughtful concern.

Usama bin Laden is DEAD!!!!!!!

CIA operatives took out bin Laden with a shot to the head when they stormed the mansion where he was hiding.  The mansion complex, located in Abbottabad, Pakistan, was right under the noses of the Pakistani army.  Reuters reports that three others were killed in the US operation including one of bin Laden’s sons. 

In searching for further information online, Google Images returned the image below which is noted as a photo of the terrorist post-mortem.  Authenticity not confirmed.

Christian defeatism grieves God. We must refuse to stand as mere spectators while the godless dismantle our nation.

 

Believers through Christ are to be the overcomers, not the overcome. Have we forgotten how those first century believers, working against even greater odds, “turned the world upside down”? Have we become so mesmerized by the coming “tribulation” that we have forgotten Christ’s order to “occupy until I return”? Once again Christians must become the nation’s salt, its preservative, and put the reins into the hands of righteous leaders. No longer can be we mere “hearers” but through God “doers,” if the nation is to survive.

Do They Still Matter?

Today is a great milestone for the United States of America.  But…I wonder if our schools will even take the time to mention this major event?  We don’t recognize it with parades; it is not proclaimed a national holiday; it is not even on most calendars.  However, the event that happened today, 268 years ago, changed the course of not only this country, but the world.  The event? 

The birth of THOMAS JEFFERSON

Perhaps, more than any other of our Founding Fathers, Jefferson’s view of building a government that would simply administer the necessities of the union of states, while allowing men to live free and as they pleased, was the truest compliation of the “idea” of the new venture of the United States of America. 

Wikipedia describes Jefferson as:

Thomas Jefferson (April 13, 1743 – July 4, 1826)^[1] was the third President of the United States (1801–1809) and the principal author of the Declaration of Independence (1776). An influential Founding Father, Jefferson envisioned America as a great “Empire of Liberty” that would promote republicanism.^[2]

This great thinker was not a politician; he was a man of learning, a man of books, history and common sense.  His insight into the nature of man is evident in the text of the Declaration of Independence – his greatest literary achievement.

Japan in Peril

By now you will have heard of the enourmous tragedies that have struck Japan.  On Friday, March 11 an earthquake struck just 80 miles off the eastern coast of Japan near the city of Sendai, Honshu.   The earthquake, originally designated an 8.9 on the Ritcher Scale has been reassessed and upgraded to a 9.0, making it the fourth largest quake in recorded world history and the largest earthquake to ever hit Japan.  More than 150 aftershocks registering 5.0 or higher have occurred since the initial event.

The size of this quake created a tsunami which crashed into Japan with a wall of water more than 30 feet high.  The tsunami’s devastating power has erased huge sections of development, sweeping complete villages out to sea and destroying vital infrastructure. 

Perhaps the deadliest part of this crisi has yet to happen.  As of today, three of Japan’s 54 nuclear power plants have experienced explosions causing unstable cores, beginning meltdowns, and leaking radiation.  The effect of a complete meltdown would devastate large areas of land, leaving them uninhabitable; additionally the physical affects on human life would be horrendous.

No official death toll can be assessed by the Japanese authorities, however they expect more than 10,000 losses. 

My heart aches for the people of Japan and for those who have lost loved ones.  I urge you to pray for the people of Japan and to contribute to the American Red Cross or other emergency agencies to assist in its almost impossible task of rescue and recovery.  For a list of reputable agencies, click here.

What’s Going On?

My life has been consumed with personal matters and I have not spent time to write my thoughts on the many events that have happened and those that are happening now. 

Rather than reiterate what has already been said, I will refer you, my readers, to watch the last two weeks of Glenn Beck’s show.  The research, analysis and projections provided by Glenn, his team and his expert guests is unparalleled. 

Beck has discovered the keystone to what our world is experiencing and it is frightening. 

I realize that some of you may consider Mr. Beck a “nut job, kook, etc.” because he warns us of danger – danger that a lot of you refuse to see.  But, I have met this man.  He is humble and honest; he is a seeker of truth.  As he says, “don’t take [his] word…research it for yourself!”  I have and he has been spot on with his analysis. 

It angers me that politics, journalistic celebrity, and TV ratings seem to get in the way of truth, thus the whole picture of news.  It also angers me that America has produced at least 3 generations of mindless idiots that will take the word of any talking head on TV without concern for credibility, or believe any headline that comes from the hippest publications without reading the details.

Glenn Beck is one of a few that know the score and is trying to tell the American people.  Another is Michael Savage; and Brigitte Gabriel.  I urge you to take time to hear, really hear, their messages. 

If we are, indeed, in the beginning of massive change and world war, you owe it to your family, your children and yourself to stop “listening” to the nicely presented propaganda cloaked in touching ads and peppy network anchors.  Instead, begin “hearing” the evidence the truth and truly consider its possibility.  Read and educate yourself on the history of our country, our world, our enemies, our allies.  Seek out the hidden truths that are not found in school texts.  Below are several places to begin your journey.

The United States House of Representatives have elected Rep. John Boehner of Ohio as Speaker of the House for the 112 Congress.  A grateful nation says thank you to the Republicans in the House and to the 19 Democrats who fired Nancy Pelosi.

Festivus? Why not?

The made-up secular holiday plucked from an episode of the Jerry Seinfeld show has become a growing phenomenon.  “FESTIVUS…for the rest of us” is an annual event held December 23rd for, basically, anyone.

It was created for the “Scrooges” and “Grinches” of the world – an alterative to Hanukkah, Christmas and the pressures of the commercialism that surround the Winter holidays.

Joy, celebration and sharing are NOT the ideals of this faux-holiday.  Instead, its basic tenet is an annual “airing of grievances” around the, now famous, unadorned, Festivus Pole, which appeared on the Seinfeld show as a plain aluminum pole.  Other aspects of this not-so-festive holiday include competitions and exhibitions of strength, and decries of “miracles” which are merely trivial events perceived as miracles.

Today’s story from the New York Post by Jeremy Olshan highlights just how politically correct our society has become, even to the point of being ridiculous. 

Olshan states, “It’s the first true Festivus miracle. Thanks to the faux holiday popularized by Jerry Seinfeld, a drug felon in California got to eat kosher TV dinners instead of the usual prison slop.  Before he was incarcerated in April, Malcolm Alarmo King, 38, convinced a judge he needed to be served the pre-packaged kosher meals due to his strict observance of “Festivus.”  “Court orders that the defendant is to receive a high protein no salami diet three times per day for ‘Festivism,’ ” Judge Derek Johnson ruled in May, when King was incarcerated in an Orange County jail. I was first stunned by this story, but then I thought about other recently made up holidays, such as Kwanza.  All holidays are “made up” by man to celebrate one thing or another; so maybe Festivus is truly a new holiday.  At least it provides for a day to complain about everything and everyone who irritates you.  So, in my book…it’s a worthwhile event.  It’s perfect for those days when you wanted to explode, but couldn’t.  It’s also great for getting the family arguments out of the way prior to the cheerfulness of Christmas.

“Read The Constitution” Campaign

Gun Owners of America, a pro-gun lobby group, have put together a petition to urge Congress to Read The Constitution before they begin a new session.  Below is the press release from GOA:

 Gun Owners of America has embarked on a petition http://www.readtheusconstitution.org  drive to get the Congress to read the U.S. Constitution and the Bill of Rights out loud in the House and Senate following the January swearing-in ceremonies.

“The people have spoken loud and clear in the elections of 2010 that the Constitution is relevant in the 21st Century,” said John Velleco, GOA’s Director of Federal Affairs. “But this document, which each and every member of the Congress swears an oath to uphold and defend, is largely ignored by the politicians after they’re elected.

“Before Congress wastes countless hours naming post offices and congratulating the winner of the World Series—not to mention all of the unconstitutional bills that chip away at the peoples’ liberty—it should take about an hour to read the most important document of the founding era.

“Of course, it will not guarantee that they’ll follow the Constitution, but it should at least be read in both the House and Senate so that the politicians could be reminded of the real contract with America.”

GOA is urging hundreds of thousands of Americans to sign the petition, which also asks that the Congress read Article 1, Section 8, of the Constitution—which outlines the powers specifically delegated to the Congress—monthly during the 112th Congress.
