The Truth About Radical Islam

Let me say what the politicos cannot…the term “radical Islam” is redundant. The “moderate Muslims” are the anomaly, not the opposite. That is the reason that more “moderate Muslim” countries do not speak out vehemently when some horrific act has been done. We do not see the outrage from even American Islamic communities when faced with scenes of brutal beheadings on Al Jazeera.

Yes, there may be a scattered few individuals, even a small group here or there, making public statements that they do not condone this type of horror. But where are the heads and mouthpieces of the main Islamic world? Apparently, they are not so offended that they feel the necessity to make a definitive global statement condemning torture and terror. I would like to see King Abdallah II of Jordan, Prime Minister Mubarak of Egypt, King Abdallah of Saudi Arabia, and President Sezer of Turkey stand together and say, “This is outrageous! We as Muslims must find these terrorists who hide behind our religion and stop them!”

YES! You say…WHY NOT?! Well, because they can’t. They can’t stand up and say those things because (1) they would be killed, and (2) the tenets upon which these terrorist acts are based are within the teachings of the Qu’oran or Koran.  Don’t take my word for it…read it yourselves:  “…not to make friends with Jews and Christians” (Q 5:51), “kill the disbelievers wherever we find them” (Q 2:191), “murder them and treat them harshly” (Q 9:123).

The leaders of the “moderate Muslim” countries, as well as leaders of the Western world, realize that dealing with the problem of “radicals” is like walking a tight rope. These Islamic leaders must not be seen to abandon their Islamic faith in the eyes of their people, lest they be overthrown. Just refer to Iran in 1979 for proof. They must also be willing to talk and negotiate with the West, so as not to alienate their sources of oil income, monetary hand-outs, and food supplies.

Thus is the chess game which our leaders are forced to play. This war is unlike any we have faced in modern times; resembling the conflicts of the Crusades more than WWI or WWII. We face a ruthless, determined enemy that will sacrifice their own children for the dream of the New World Caliphate. If we do not have the nerve to destroy our enemy…they will destroy us. And that is…Why It Matters.
